WELCOME!

C.A.R.E. was founded in November 2001 by a group of residents who wanted to minimize the negative impacts of the new development happening in our community. This is still our main focus, but along the way we have found that there are many other issues of concern among our neighbors. As we grow and find more neighbors ready to help, our Projects List grows.

HOT PROJECT ACTIVITIES
  • Our 2006 Community Planning effort has begun!
    As part of the 2006 Community Planning Effort, C.A.R.E. has scheduled community meetings all year. For the next one, March 27th, we have invited all the developers with active interest in our community to tell us about their projects. Please join us for an evening of dialog and planning for our future!

    It is vital that as many voices as possible are heard.
    WE NEED EVERYBODY! As citizens and residents, we have more complete and more detailed information than any army of "experts". But without your voice, we might miss a critical issue and fail to protect a valuable aspect of the character of our community and the quality of life here.

  • 10% Petition to Put Annexation On An Election Ballot
     The City Council of Renton unanimously accepted our Preserve Our Plateau Annexation Petition on February 13, 2006!

    This means that the Boundary Review Board will now review the proposal to confirm t    hat it conforms to all local and state laws that apply. We expect that there will be hearing starting as early as this spring and going through the summer. The election should happen in September or October.

  • Major Landslide next door to one of our neighbors' house!

    This is a major project that landed on us without warning. We have established good contacts through the Department of Natural Resources and will be working to be sure that the lessons learned from this event are considered at the Department of Development Services as new subdivision applications are submitted and processed. Everything we do is funded by your donations. We keep our expenses to the bare minimum and make each dollar count. We also have a strict OPEN BOOKS policy - just ask! CARE is a Washington State non-profit corporation, with federal 502(c)4 tax exempt status. To donate, grab a volunteer at any of our meetings or send a check to the address above.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES - C.A.R.E. is 100% Volunteer Staffed

We have all kinds of volunteer opportunities - sticking stamps on postcards, researching neighbors’ questions, petition signature gathering - the list is long! If you have an interest in anything the community should know about, we can get you on a team to help. Just drop us a note (see contact info at the top of the page) and we will be happy to set you up with a project!

We have some specific questions for specialists - mortgage, real estate, septic/sewer system or legal industry professionals. We would especially appreciate someone with even the most basic Web skills right now. If any of these fit, please contact us ASAP!
